This unit will help cover the competency in the Quebec Progression of Learning for Elementary Cycle 3 (grades 5-6) : Understand matter, energy, and electrical circuits. It also helps cover the portion of their science called the Material World.

Simple, Quick & Expandable!

If you're looking for a quick way to cover some material your kids aren't too interested in, then this unit is perfect! It includes:

• Two reading passages that explain concepts simply, in kid-friendly language
• A worksheet that requires students to label a simple circuit
• A comprehension question page including multiple-choice and short-answer questions
• An experiment requiring simple household objects
• Experiment pages where students can fill in their hypotheses and conclusions

It's perfect for homeschool portfolios and a great way to review if you've done units on electricity before too!

This unit also gives your student room to explore and expand their knowledge more!

If they get interested in the topic of electricity, you can grab some books from the library, watch some great Youtube videos, build bigger circuits, buy some electricity science kits,  or even visit a hydroelectric dam! You can always expand!

I especially made this unit to follow the Quebec learning standards, as this is where I homeschool my own kids. But, of course, if you live anywhere else in the world, you can easily use it in your homeschool too! 

You'll notice that the bottom of every page clearly labels which part of the Quebec curriculum. In the Quebec elementary science learning progressions, it is required to teach from 3 thematic areas - Earth and Space, Material World and Living Things. This unit covers a portion of the Material World theme.
