I already have another new CVC story book and lesson for you! This is the third book in the -AP word family and features a story about a cat chasing a rat. Like all of my CVC stories, it includes a short story, plus some extra literacy and language resources you can use along with it!

What's Inside a CVC Story

Inside each of my CVC story units you'll find a story that focuses on a specific word family, but also spirals in previously learned CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words, as well as sight words. These are meant to be paired with my CVC/Sight Word Phonics Booklets here.

Along with each story, you'll also find some easy-to-use, low-prep resources that help your learners go beyond reading simple words on a page. These include reading comprehension questions for you to discuss out loud, a simple grammar or language lesson, and some easy literacy activities such as drawing what happened in the story or making a simple connection to the story.

In this unit, you'll find:

-AP family word story (gap, lap, nap)
A language lesson (Reading longer two-line sentences on a page from left to right)
Reading comprehension questions about the story
Making predictions worksheet
Drawing comprehension worksheets
Making connections worksheet (Have you ever read a story or seen a movie about an animal? Draw your favorite part.)
