New French Unit! Part 6 of the French Writing Program
Want to try a free sample of this curriculum before you buy? Click here!
Have you been following my French writing program? Then you'll be happy to know that weeks 11 and 12 are here! 😁😁😁
In this unit, students will learn about using the verb 'voir' in the present tense, learn new sight words, and expand their vocabulary even more with a brand new feature!
As with all of the previous units, these 2 weeks will be full of practice, practice, practice! Students will do a daily dictation, a daily worksheet with writing and verb conjugation practice, and have a weekly quiz too!
I have included everything you need including an answer guide, translations, and lessons that you can read aloud like a script.
You'll also notice a brand new addition to this unit - a vocabulary booklet! This 20-page booklet features vocabulary words that are all about places to go and see - in nature, in the countryside, city, and more! Your learners will be able to use this book to write even more!
Future units will contain similar vocabulary guides. They're not only a great way to expand vocabulary, but a fun way to teach your learners how to use a reference guide in the future. They're easy to print since they are in black and white, but could also be used on a tablet if you're trying to save on paper. They can even be hung on the wall so that you can practice vocabulary every day!
Every week in this program has spiral review mixed in from previous weeks too so that your learners always remember what they have learned before. I think you'll also love how much writing you'll see your learners do in this unit - they will have come a long way in just 12 weeks of lessons!Get The Unit Below!

Learning to write in French is crucial for FSL (French as a Second Language) students. Proficiency in writing allows students to effectively communicate their thoughts and ideas in French, enhancing their overall language skills. Writing in French also provides students with the opportunity to practice grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure, leading to a deeper understanding of the language.
Through French writing, my own kids have been able to extend their vocabulary and understanding of things like verb tenses in French and grammar. That is why I began making these units for them so that they can easily continue to practice their writing without my constant help. After they write their rough draft we go over it together, correcting any grammar or spelling mistakes and reviewing those grammar rules as we go on throughout the year.

After School, I like to

Writing is an important part of language development, especially for second-language learners. Multiple studies have shown that the more something is written down by hand, the easier it is to commit to memory. That's why I consider writing in French such an important part of our school day.
As my kids have grown from writing simple sentences into writing paragraphs and papers, I have found that they still need vocabulary refreshers and reminders to help them along. That's why I started making these French writing units for more intermediate-level FSL learners.
Looking for writing units for beginners? Check out these!
Planning Pages
Planning is such an important part of writing, It allows us to get our ideas down without being bogged down by grammar rules, sentence structure and spelling. I included a drawing page in this unit so that students can plan out the words and phrases they'll use through drawing and labelling before writing anything. This could be used at the beginning of the week while you review important vocabulary.
You might want to give students an idea of how much they should write by saying they need, for example, at least 3 things they like to do after school. You could also require them to expand on why they like those things if their writing is up to that level.
French Vocabulary and Sentence Stems
As I mentioned earlier, FSL students often need quick refreshers of vocabulary and phrases, even in the intermediate writing stage. Reviewing the words and phrases included in the units will not only help students review vocabulary words and verb tenses but also give them ideas and inspiration for their paper.
If they have French writing notebooks, these could be pasted in there, allowing them to add to the vocabulary list by using their French dictionaries or translation apps.

Free Counting Objects to Ten Worksheets
Relating counting and cardinality is a huge concept to cover in kindergarten and first grade. These worksheets are perfect for practicing those concepts - and so much fun to use too!
Full of fun clipart images your students will love to color and count, they'll have fun learning to count, read, and write their numbers.
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
Count to answer "how many?" questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
Plus, having the standards printed on every page is a HUGE help when writing reports or keeping track of what you have covered so far for the year. I've found it to be super helpful when making portfolios and seeing where every child is at too - which skills they covered best and which they may need more help with.
